Demurrage Outsourcing & Laytime Services
Deep Blue Laytime Services is a specialist provider of outsourced laytime services and demurrage outsourcing for shipowners, operators, charterers, and traders. Our experienced team manages your post-fixture claims from claim creation or receipt through to final settlement so your operations and commercial teams can focus on what matters most.
Whether you need a fully outsourced claims management solution or targeted support for a specific voyage or period of time, we act as an extension of your team: expert, responsive, and commercially minded.
Fully Outsourced Claims Management
From the moment a claim is created or received, our team manages your demurrage and other post-fixture claims until final payment is secured. This fully outsourced claims management service includes detailed feedback, reporting, and a commercially driven approach at every stage. In short, Deep Blue becomes your dedicated demurrage and post-fixtures claims department
Temporary Coverage
Through seasonal peaks, staff leave, or a sudden surge in workload, our team steps in to keep your demurrage and post-fixture claims moving without interruption. This ad-hoc service gives you access to specialist demurrage expertise exactly when you need it, with no long-term commitment required.
Contract Analysis & Recommendations
Poor laytime clauses cost money on every fixture. Our team reviews your charterparty terms and recaps to identify the clauses most likely to generate disputes or impact your bottom line and provides clear, actionable recommendations to strengthen your balance sheet.
Reporting & Analytics
Data sits at the heart of how we manage our services. We provide highly granular, claim-level reporting across your demurrage and post-fixture claim portfolio tracking recovery rates, timebar performance, dispute trends, and clause-level outcomes. Every report provides actionable insights to help you improve your results over time
Second Reviews
Sending a demurrage claim or laytime calculation to a counterparty without a second set of expert eyes is a risk many operators take and later regret. Our team performs independent second reviews of any claim, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with the governing charterparty before it leaves your desk.
Time Charter Reviews
If you have a vessel on time charter, underperformance claims can recover significant sums, but only if they're identified and pursued correctly. Our Time Charter review service analyzes vessel performance data against contractual warranties, calculates any shortfall in speed or consumption, and prepares a fully documented claim on your behalf.

Detailed Reporting
Beyond managing claims, we help you understand them. Our reporting assigns dollar values to individual clauses, tracks recovery trends, and gives your commercial team the data needed to negotiate stronger terms on future fixtures.
Flexible
We scale with your business. Whether you need full demurrage outsourcing across your entire fleet or support for a single trade route, our model means no extra headcount, no redundancy risk, and no gaps in coverage.
Human Led
We use machine learning and Deep Blue Labs' in-house built software to improve speed and accuracy, not to handle the actual work.
Every demurrage and post-fixture claim heavily involves an experienced human professional. Always.
Predictable Costs
Most clients pay a fixed fee per claim, making your demurrage and post-fixtures budget straightforward to manage and your cash flow easier to forecast.
Process Improvement
We work closely with clients to identify where upstream improvements can positively impact demurrage and post-fixtures outcomes before a claim is even raised.
By working pro-actively, we strive to reduce disputes and issues that arise once the voyage completes and claims are issued.
Meet the Laytime Services Team

Founder and CEO
Raymond Walsh
Ray has spent 20 years on the commercial front lines of chemical and tanker shipping including roles with a prestigious Japanese chemical tanker operator and two of the world's most respected tanker pools. That depth of experience across fixture negotiation, vessel operations, post-fixture management, and counterparty relationships is what shaped Deep Blue's approach from day one.
Ray holds a professional practice BSc in Maritime Business and is the founder of Deep Blue Shipping and co-founder of Deep Blue Laytime Services.

Director of Operations
Joshua Prince
Josh has spent over 18 years working in demurrage and post-fixture claims management at some of the industry's largest and most respected companies including an IOC and very respected tanker pools. He has handled tens of thousands of claims across tanker, chemical, and bulk trades giving him an unusually detailed understanding of where claims are won, lost, and left on the table.
As co-founder and Director of Operations at Deep Blue Laytime Services, Josh oversees claims handling, analyst workflows, contract and process improvement, and client reporting.

Director of Marine Operations
Capt. Surender Singh
Sunny is a Master Mariner with 28 years of ship and shore-based experience across oil tankers, chemical tankers, bulk carriers, and LPG vessels. He holds an MSc in Shipping, Trade, and Finance from Cass Business School in London and possesses a combination of operational depth and commercial training that is rare.
His career spans both sides of the bridge: years at sea across multiple vessel types, followed by shore-based roles built on practical knowledge that no classroom produces on its own.

Claims Analyst
Melinda Prince
Meli brings formidable organizational capability to the claims desk. Before joining Deep Blue, she simultaneously managed documentation and accounting support for three real estate offices with over 100 agents, while running her own small business.
The ability to track multiple complex files, meet tight deadlines, and catch errors before they leave the desk is exactly what demurrage claims management demands, and it's where Meli excels.

Account Manager
Matthew Farrance
Matt joined Deep Blue to focus on our client relationships. His background in client-facing roles gives him a genuine instinct for what clients need to know and when - clear updates, honest assessments, and no surprises.
